Protecting your loved ones is at the forefront when planning the transfer of your estate. At ARAYA LAW we can ensure that everything is in place so that your wishes are carried out as planned and your beneficiaries are protected. By conducting in-depth questionnaires and interviews about clients’ family relationships, businesses, real estate interests, investments and accounts, insurance coverage, and other assets, we help clients prepare wills that fits their unique circumstances. We also help clients understand and execute powers of attorney and representation agreements to provide peace of mind that their matters will be taken care of in the way that they wish.

REAL ESTATE

At ARAYA LAW we can assist with your residential and commercial real estate transactions, including strata property transactions. We prepare and review contracts of purchase and sale, oversee transfers and conveyances of commercial and residential lands, and manage commercial and residential leases. We provide due diligence reviews in the Land Title Office and handle environmental issues, and governmental regulations and requirements. We also assist purchasers, developers and private investors in negotiating all types of financing arrangements, including credit facilities for residential purchases. In addition, we represent landlords and tenants in preparing leases, negotiations, property management, and leasing disputes.

lMMIGRATION

At ARAYA LAW we have extensive personal and professional experience with Canada’s Immigration system. Through our deep knowledge of the Permanent Residency rules, we successfully assist clients from around the world to enter Canada as permanent residents. Whether through the Provincial Nominee Program or Express Entry we help our clients determine and execute their best path to permanent residency. We assist Canadian citizens and permanent residents to sponsor their spouses, partners and other family members. We also assist employers seeking to bring skilled workers from foreign countries, as well as individuals seeking entry to Canada on a temporary basis to work, study, or visit.

WORKPLACE LAW

ARAYA LAW has a diverse client base, from small local business owners to large corporations operating in multiple jurisdictions. Our services include drafting and reviewing employment contracts, preparing policies on harassment and bullying, and helping ensure terminations are handled appropriately and in compliance with all applicable laws. We also advise employees of their rights upon termination including whether the notice period was sufficient as well as researching additional avenues of compensation where applicable.

Rina is originally from Vancouver, British Columbia. She completed her undergraduate degree in Political Science with Honours at Simon Fraser University and completed her legal education at the University of Toronto, Faculty of Law. While in law school Rina received a fellowship to work at Vancouver’s Downtown Community Court and an international human rights internship to lead a project on the impact of health epidemics on orphans' land rights in Kasane, Botswana. After completing her Juris Doctor, Rina returned to Vancouver, B.C. where she completed her articles at Bolton & Muldoon, a boutique criminal defense firm.

Rina has a broad practice and has appeared before the Provincial Court of British Columbia, the Supreme Court of British Columbia, as well as the Federal Court. Prior to founding ARAYA LAW, Rina was a senior associate at a small firm in Burnaby, B.C. She was also an associate at Watson Goepel LLP in downtown Vancouver where she advised clients on a wide variety of legal issues in a diverse group of practice areas.

Rina has travelled extensively and worked internationally, most recently in Johannesburg, South Africa where under the supervision of George Bizos, Nelson Mandela’s lawyer, she conducted constitutional litigation and advocacy services for the Legal Resources Centre. In South Africa Rina also co-founded and acted as CEO and corporate counsel of e-tuktuk, an environmentally friendly transportation company.

Rina is a Professional Legal Training Course instructor for the Law Society of British Columbia. She teaches out of Thompson Rivers University preparing recently graduated law students for the British Columbia Bar exam.
Rina first explored Sun Peaks in 1997 while on a snowboarding trip. From then onwards she visited Sun Peaks periodically over the years and finally set up roots in 2019. Rina enjoys travelling, running, scuba diving, and practicing yoga. She is an enthusiastic, if not always effective, snowboarder. Rina is both excited and humbled to be a part of the Sun Peaks community.
